What people are saying.
Too many of us work in environments where expressions such as ‘fast-paced’ are regarded as a positive. Speed is considered to be a good thing and the pressure to think, act and respond ever more quickly is relentless. Underneath it all we know that our most valuable work is not achieved this way, but altering ingrained habits and having the courage to take steps to adjust even subtly the expectations of bosses, colleagues, customers or clients can be far from easy. Stress and anxiety simmer away and indeed often accompany the process of change as well, thus making it all the more difficult to break established unsatisfactory patterns.
Working with Martin through a sequence of different techniques to choose from, together with tools to support them has given me a more effective approach to embedding mindfulness routines and specific meditation practices, more firmly into both my daily life and my working life. His approach is systematic and measured, sometimes a bit challenging but gently and sensitively so. Perseverance and determination are necessary and his methods provide help in cultivating both. It is worthwhile though – from personal experience I know that the techniques explained so clearly and sympathetically by Martin for using mindfulness and meditation to give oneself a bit of a ‘breather’ (literally as well as metaphorically!), really do work.

“I completed the 8 week Mindfulness course with Martin back in 2019 and can honestly say that it gave me a great platform for me to understand what mindfulness was all about and to use the daily practices of meditation. Each week working through the book and carrying out different meditations was insightful and helpful. I now use the teachings in my every day life and feel in many ways that it has been quite the life changer. We enjoyed a nice intimate group with pleasant surroundings taught by Martin who has a very calm manner and voice which is easy to listen to and be relaxed with. I would highly recommend to anyone curious about Mindfulness to give any of Martin's courses a try.”

“Thank you for your email and support after the course. I find the most comfortable and best time for me to meditate is before I get up. I find it begins my day positively before anything has ‘wound’ me up. I really enjoyed the course and got a lot out of it, would definitely like to repeat it if at all possible.”

I have just spent the weekend at Martin's Mindfulness at Work Retreat held at Douai Abbey. I'm truly inspired and looking forward to using the new tools to improve my quality of life. I began to feel the benefits during the sessions and, with practice, I hope to hone my mindfulness skills using the methods taught at Douai Abbey. Many thanks Martin.

“It’s value for money. There’s a lot of very expensive retreats out there and while you chill there, you got nothing to come back with when it’s finished.”
— David, business consultant.
“I liked the practical sessions. We were given a choice of tools and meditations to try and encouraged to pick what works for us.”
